Vaccination protects against serious illness and the long-term effects of COVID-19.
Even though the majority of people who become infected experience only mild symptoms or none at all, a proportion of those who become ill develop a severe case or experience long-term consequences.
Cecilia is a nurse and had contracted COVID-19 from a patient. She had extreme difficulties breathing and thought she would die. This still haunts her. She also still has the fear of getting infected again and putting her loved ones at risk with the virus.
